Coat the interior walls with genuine natural stone
Beauty of a stone is inimitable
Genuine materials complement each other
Genuine natural stone surfaceTunto Kivi (Stone) is a coating that contains natural Finnish stone, combining the inimitable beauty of nature and the value of a genuine material. It is suitable for coating interior walls and fireplaces, for instance.Tunto Stone can also be used to coat walls in humid spaces, but it is not suitable for direct contact with water.
Bring the Finnish bedrock into your home
Natural stone has the nature of rock, the firmness of mountains, and the warmth of the earth that can be felt up close. The delicate relationship between roughness and light form part of the natural vibrancy of Tunto Stone.
Spread stone with a steel trowel
Tunto Stone is a mass that is spread on the wall surface with a steel trowel. Although it is simple to apply, the result is stunning! Coat an entire wall or sections outlined with tape.
Standard colours directly from nature
Tunto Stone is manufactured from four different rock types: light-coloured limestone, gray and black granite, and black gabbro. Thanks to a patented tinting system, it is also available in 25 carefully formulated tintable colours that retain the feel of natural stone.
Tunto Kivi - Stone Coating
For new and previously painted concrete, plaster, brick, wood fibre board, gypsum board and chipboard surfaces. Suitable also for humid interiors, but not in direct contact with water.
Clean the surfaces from dirt and dust. Level with a suitable Presto Light Filler. Prime all untreated surfaces with Varma Primer or Feelings Universal Primer. Paint the primed surface once with Harmony, Feelings Interior Paint or Joker. The paint should be tinted to the same color with the stone coating to be applied.
Previously painted surfaces:
Wash down previously painted surfaces with Maalipesu Cleaning Agent and rinse carefully with water. Fill possible holes with suitable Presto Filler. Paint once with Harmony, Feelings Interior Paint or Joker tinted to the same color with the stone coating, if the color difference between the substrate and the coating is significant.
Prime with Feelings Extra Durable tinted to the same color with the stone coating.
Application by steel trowel (small areas)
Apply by steel trowel a smooth coat of approx. 2 mm at a time to an area of approx.1-2 m² . Smooth the coating by sloping the trowel lightly and gently over the surface. Check that the stones are spread abundantly and closely and to the whole area. Adjust limits of pauses and borders of various cans to an unobtrusive spot.
Application by steel trowel and grinding (big areas)
On large uniform wall surfaces a jointless surface is easiest to make by applying the product twice. Apply by steel trowel a smooth coat to an area of approx.1-2 m² . Smooth the coating by sloping the trowel lightly and gently over the surface. After the first coat has dried, apply the second coat of Tunto Stone thinly.
Grind the surface immediately (max. after 15 min.) by pressing lightly with Tikkurila plastic float. If the float does not move lightly, there is too much of coating. Remove the excess coating with a steel trowel. Note! Too thick layer slows down the drying process and may cause the odor to stay longer.
Application by spraying e.g. with a plaster pump or a funnel sprayer
Apply by spraying with a low pressure from approx. 1 m distance in a circular motion along the surface. Smooth the coating by sloping the trowel lightly over the surface. Uniform surfaces are sprayed without interruption.
Note! Wet fillers like Presto Light Filler are suitable under Tunto Stone coating. When using dry fillers, the filler has to be cement reinforced . Ventilate the area thoroughly prior to taking it in use.
Handle the surfaces gently during few days after the coating is applied as the product achieves its final hardness and durability after approx. one month in normal conditions.
Tunto Stone contains VOC max. 200 g/l.

Safety data sheet
InstructionsConsumption varies depending on the surface to be treated and its condition. Absorption is affected e.g. by the surface roughness, moisture content level of timber and porosity. For example, log surface that has been untreated for a long time takes a lot more wood finish than a new surface to be treated.
When calculating the consumption, note that the consumption for round logs is 1.5 times higher than normal. Please also note the corner joints in the surface area.
