A calm surface and the feel of a genuine material

The surface of Tunto Hieno (Fine) is attractively porous and full matt. This makes it ideal for imitating concrete, for example. Use several shades of gray and a steel trowel for application. More detailed instructions can be found in the Tunto guide.

Unlimited application possibilities

The three-dimensional effect of a Tunto surface is created in application. You can shape the surface with a steel trowel, rubber spatula, notched trowel, brush, or broom. You can find examples in the Tunto guide.

Colour and surface in interaction

TThe colour scale of the Tunto products exudes the tranquility of mountain ranges formed over millions of years and the power crystallized in minerals. The Tunto colour card features a magnificent range of earthy colours from subtle to strong.

Application conditions
The surface to be treated must be dry, and the temperature of the air, surface and coating must be at least +5˚ C and the relative humidity of the air below 80 %.
Unpainted surfaces:
Clean unpainted surfaces from dirt and dust. If necessary, smooth the surfaces with a suitable Presto Light Filler. Prime with Luja Universal Primer. Apply 1-2 coats of Harmony or Nova 7 tinted to the colour of the final product.

Previously painted surfaces:
Wash down previously painted surfaces with Maalipesu cleaning agent and rinse carefully with water. If necessary, smooth the surfaces with a suitable Presto Filler. Use sandpaper to sand painted glossy surfaces until they are matt and remove the grinding dust. If the colour difference between the substrate and the finish is significant, we recommend to apply one coat of Harmony or Nova 7 tinted to the colour of the final product.
Stir TUNTO Fine Textured Finish well before use. Use a roller to apply the product. The surface can be patterned e.g. with a wide brush, wallpaper knife, firm brush or patterning roller. Spread the coating in a thick layer on interior walls approximately one m2 at a time and make the final patterning on the surface immediately. Avoid too thick layers because they may cause the dry surface to crack. For a homogeneous surface reserve enough coating mixed in a single container to avoid possible colour difference.
If plain paintwork or a different kind of structure surface is wanted, level Tunto surface with suitable Tikkurila Presto filler. Continue treatment from Preparation Unpainted surface.
Cleaning of tools
Clean tools with water. Tikkurila Pensselipesu Tool Cleaner is recommended to remove slightly hardened finish.

Maintenance instructions
Clean surfaces by dry cleaning with a vacuum cleaner, soft brush or dust towel.

Handle the surfaces with care after the finishing treatment, as the product achieves the final hardness and durability after approx. one month in normal conditions.

Tunto Textured Finishes colour card

The Tunto product line offers new types of textured finishes which create three-dimensional coloured surfaces. The mineral surface of these textured finishes will bring life to colours depending on illumination. There are two different textured products in the product line: Tunto Fine and Tunto Coarse. Applying Tunto Fine with different kinds of tools will produce a myriad of different effects. Tunto Coarse will give a rougher, more rocky appearance and feeling to the surface.

Product consumption, when surface is...

Consumption varies depending on the surface to be treated and its condition. Absorption is affected e.g. by the surface roughness, moisture content level of timber and porosity. For example, log surface that has been untreated for a long time takes a lot more wood finish than a new surface to be treated.

When calculating the consumption, note that the consumption for round logs is 1.5 times higher than normal. Please also note the corner joints in the surface area.

Rounding up

As the filling rate is usually 90% (space for tinting), it is good to round up the liter amounts and reserve enough of the product so that the work is not interrupted unnecessarily, and colour will be even.
